Eligibility:
Graduation in any discipline. Final-year students can also apply. Admission would be subject to their clearing the graduation examinations.
Objective:
This program prepares students for reporting in both print and electronic media. It also introduces the student to various genres of media like radio, Internet, advertising, PR and corporate communication. The comprehensive program makes the student aware of the role and responsibilities of reporters and trains them for working in any publication, production house and TV channel. The course also covers media design and new media besides management.
Course Content:
The course teaches students basic news gathering, evaluation and writing skills so that they can be effective members of a news team. They are expected to build a working knowledge of structured, balanced, accurate and effective news reporting and to develop the necessary professional attitude and skill. They will also learn to appreciate the ethics and realities of working as journalists. The content also includes elements of news, editing, writing in the print and electronic media, specialized reporting, feature writing and editorial copy, photojournalism and advertising (media marketing), public relations and corporate communication and newspaper management.
The MassCoMedia USP:
Students will be given a chance to be a part of the content development projects undertaken at the Institute. The experience at MassCoMedia will help them enhance their portfolios.
Note: Students can transfer credits to Deakin University in the second year and study there for six months for an international degree.
